Alex Hale’s Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life BBQ event was planned for family and friends on September 18^th 2022 at the Carmel Valley Gazebo Park from 2-6pm.

Tears of rain started the event, but over 100 friends and family gathered to weather the storm and celebrate the life of Alex Hale.

In lieu of any flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in the name of our husband, father, teacher, mentor and friend Alex Hale. Thank you.

If there was only enough time to say all the things you’d want to say, about your father that had passed away, there’d be no time for us here today.

No time to laugh or play.

No time for you to say, what made him so special.

So, I’ll just say a few things that may find it into your heart and stay. Stay with you like he will stay with me. Forever until eternity.

My Dad liked to learn, but loved teach…..and he was so patient with people.

Many would have considered him on the quieter side. But when he spoke, you wanted to listen…and boy did he have some stories.

He had the laughter and smile of a child. So excited about telling you his stories.

My dad was writer, a fun-loving father, he loved my mother like no other. He taught me life, love and honor. There’s no one in this life that’s brought be farther.

He taught me how to build.

How to create.

He really lived for and enjoyed each day and every moment.

My dad was a special man and someone I always tried to be like…..and I didn’t realize until he passed how much I really am like my father.

Out of the thousands of life lessons he taught me, I’ll leave you with just a few:
– treat others the way you want to be treated
– don’t interrupt other people’s activities
– spend your life lifting people up, not putting them down.

Although my dad was a great negotiator, he didn’t like to argue. Instead, he tried to avoid negative situations so he could focus on the beauty of life.

I on the other hand, growing up, loved to argue my point. It wasn’t until 2014, when my brother Brook spoke to me through a medium, did my life and viewpoint change. After that, I began seeing through my fathers eyes.

It’s hard in this life to put aside moments we wish went differently. We often bundle the pain of disappointment, instead of seeing the fork in the road as a new opportunity, which was just unforeseen at the time.

So I’ll leave you with one of the stories my dad sent me a few years ago which he titled:

“LETTING GO AND MOVING FORWARD

A noted speaker walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

Remember to put the glass down. Today is a time of both letting go and picking up. Today and everyday forward we have the opportunity to let go of a misunderstanding, misconception or mistake. We also can pick up more understanding, develop more clarity and experience more gratefulness. The longer we focus on what is truly important the more we feel relief, gratefulness and joy today.”

Today I feel joy that Alex Hale was my father. I feel relief that I know he is watching over us and Grateful that he lived a long and wonderful life.

My dad didn’t drink much but when he did, he would often drink port.

So, I ask you to raise your glass to my teacher, my father and best friend. Alex Hale.
